Grand Canyon

Grand Canyon (1991) is a drama written and directed by Lawrence Kasdan — watch it online on iFILM. Six people from opposite ends of town end up entangled in each other's lives through a series of accidents that feel less accidental as the film unfolds.

Kevin Kline plays a corporate attorney whose car stalls in the wrong part of the city at the wrong hour. Danny Glover is the tow truck driver who shows up and keeps a tense standoff from turning fatal. From that one encounter, the film spreads outward — to Steve Martin's producer rattled by a shooting, to Mary McDonnell's woman who finds an abandoned infant on a jog, to Mary-Louise Parker and Alfre Woodard navigating their own precarious corners of the same city.

The film took the Golden Bear at the 1992 Berlin International Film Festival, a recognition that its portrait of urban disconnection and unexpected grace landed with real weight.
