Synopsis

Cruel Summer (2021), Season 1 is an American mystery thriller you can watch online on iFILM — ten episodes set across three summers, 1993, 1994 and 1995, in the small Texas town of Skylin.

The trick of the season is structure: every episode lives the same calendar day in all three years at once. In '93 the town's golden girl, Kate, disappears. At the same time awkward Jeanette Turner climbs from quiet outsider to the most popular girl in Skylin — and by '95, the most hated person in America. What passed between them comes out a sliver at a time: the garden-club party, the Wallis hunting trip, the county fair, a fresh deposition. One girl swears she's telling the truth. The other says her rival is lying. You decide who to believe, right up to the courtroom.

Made for Freeform, the triple-timeline format is the whole reason to watch — the puzzle, not the verdict. It suits anyone who likes teen mysteries in the vein of Euphoria or Big Little Lies, where the question isn't who did it but how you choose to see it. Stream Cruel Summer Season 1 online on iFILM.
