Synopsis

It opens on graduation night, 1988: Emma and Dexter share an almost-something and part ways by morning. From there the show drops in on them once a year, every 15 July, to see who they've become in the months you didn't watch. Em claws her way from dead-end jobs toward writing; Dex chases easy TV fame and loses himself in it. Rome, London, a Greek holiday, a friend's wedding, an old mixtape, Paris — each episode catches them somewhere new, sometimes close, sometimes painfully out of step.
It's adapted from David Nicholls' novel, already filmed in 2011, and the series finally gives the story the one thing the movie couldn't: room.
