Synopsis
The Eichmann Show (2015) is a British TV drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Paul Andrew Williams. It tells the true story of how producer Milton Fruchtman and blacklisted TV director Leo Hurwitz fought for the right to broadcast the 1961 Jerusalem trial of Adolf Eichmann — the man responsible for organising the murder of six million Jews — live to 37 countries.
Anthony LaPaglia plays Fruchtman; Martin Freeman is Hurwitz. Together they navigate Israeli officials who distrust cameras, broadcasters who doubt audiences will sit through hours of courtroom testimony, and their own disagreements about what the footage is actually for. Meanwhile, through the glass, Eichmann conducts himself like a minor bureaucrat disputing a filing error rather than a man accused of genocide.
Williams keeps the focus behind the cameras rather than in front of them — the film is about the act of witnessing, about television becoming, for the first time, a tool of historical memory. Watch The Eichmann Show (2015) online on iFILM.
