In 1985, a New York Magazine cover story by journalist David Blum branded McCarthy and his peers — Emilio Estevez, Demi Moore, Rob Lowe, Ally Sheedy, Judd Nelson, Lea Thompson — as the "Brat Pack." The label stuck. What looked like a cultural moment turned into a career-shaping trap: typecast, mocked by critics, unable to shed a teenage image none of them had chosen. Nearly forty years later, McCarthy tracks down his former co-stars to find out how that one article changed each of their lives.
