Synopsis
The Rehearsal (2022), Season 1 is Nathan Fielder's HBO docu-comedy you can watch online on iFILM — six episodes built on one deadpan premise. Before you face a hard moment for real, you rehearse it: actors, full-scale replica sets, a flowchart for every branch the conversation might take.
It opens small. Fielder coaches a Brooklyn trivia buff into confessing an old lie to a teammate over a recreated bar. Then the project metastasizes. An Oregon woman tries out motherhood by raising a "son" from infant to eighteen across a few staged weeks, and Nathan keeps stepping into the simulation himself — director one minute, pretend dad the next. The line between rehearsing a life and living one quietly dissolves. Control over other people's choices starts costing him his own.
