Synopsis
To the Lake (2019), Season 1 is a Russian post-apocalyptic thriller you can watch online on iFILM — eight episodes that open as a nameless virus burns through Moscow. Symptoms: a cough, eyes going white, three days to live.
There's no cure, the capital seals itself off, and soldiers start clearing the infected. To save the people he loves, Sergey packs his family and a few neighbours into a convoy and heads north toward a forgotten lake deep in the Karelian woods. The road is the real test — looters, dwindling fuel, a car that dies in the middle of nowhere. Yet the sharpest danger rides inside the cabin: jealousy, old grudges and thin trust between ex-spouses and new partners. The farther they get from the city, the less these people bother to hide who they are.
Adapted from Yana Vagner's novel Vongozero, it trades spectacle for cramped car interiors and characters at breaking point.
