Synopsis
Vermeil in Gold (2022), Season 1 is a fantasy comedy anime you can watch online on iFILM — twelve episodes, the show's first and so far only season, adapted from Kouta Amana's manga.
Alto Goldfield is a struggling student at Ortigia Academy who flunks his familiar summoning and faces being held back a year. Out of desperation he digs up an old grimoire and summons Vermeil, a she-devil whose name has been tied to disaster for centuries. From there the season runs on two tracks. One is the rom-com of an awkward boy and a familiar with zero sense of personal space. The other is a slower-burning academy plot — a duel with the Dragonriders' captain, a teacher named Obsidian running an experiment, exams that someone is quietly targeting. By the back half, the gags give way to Vermeil's past and the reason she was sealed away.
