Solving the murders made Velma Dinkley popular. Her personality, mercifully, survived intact — she's still the same prickly nerd itching to chase clues. The catch is that two cops, Donna and Linda, now forbid her from meddling, and her newly returned mother Diya refuses to let her out of sight. None of it sticks. Velma finds the loopholes while flailing through a love life gone sideways, with Daphne, Norville and Fred all pulling at her. Fresh victims, Saturday detentions, Amber's séances and a sinister "Project Scoobi" slowly snap into one picture.
