Synopsis
On Probation (Tiempo de valientes, 2005) is an Argentine action-comedy available to watch online on iFILM. Court-ordered to do community service, psychoanalyst Mariano Silverstein lands an unusual assignment: provide therapy to a police officer who has fallen apart after his wife's affair.
That cop, Alfredo Díaz, is a man with a service weapon and a broken heart, and his sessions happen right in the middle of the job. The catch is that Alfredo is working a double homicide, and Mariano gets dragged into it up to his neck — car chases, shootouts and interrogations folded in among conversations about childhood wounds. Diego Peretti plays the flustered analyst, Luis Luque the surly but likable detective, and their odd-couple chemistry carries the whole picture.
It was directed by Damián Szifrón, the filmmaker who would later break out worldwide with Wild Tales. His signature is already on display here: genre momentum, dry Argentine humor and a gift for staging absurdity so it ticks like clockwork.
