Synopsis
Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story (2023) is a Netflix limited series you can watch online on iFILM. Created by Shonda Rhimes as a prequel to her Bridgerton franchise, its six episodes follow a young Charlotte arriving at the English court — barely speaking the language, already married to a king she has never met.
India Ria Amarteifio plays the young queen, and Corey Mylchreest is King George — a man who retreats to his greenhouse and talks to his plants while the court pretends everything is fine. The marriage begins as a political arrangement and slowly, awkwardly, turns into something neither of them planned. Golda Rosheuvel and Adjoa Andoh return as the older Charlotte and Lady Danbury, bridging the timeline back to the main series. Michelle Fairley and Ruth Gemmell round out a cast that handles the shift between past and present without missing a step.
Director Tom Verica keeps the pace tight for a costume drama — less about the gowns, more about two isolated people figuring out how to survive each other.
