Synopsis
The Fiery Priest (열혈사제, 2019) is a South Korean action-crime comedy you can watch online on iFILM, built on one wild premise: the hero is a Catholic priest who simply cannot keep his fists in his pockets. Kim Hae-il once served in special forces; now he wears a cassock, but his temper never got the memo.
When the elderly priest who mentored him turns up dead, the police rule it a suicide. Hae-il doesn't buy it for a second. To dig out the truth he's forced into an absurd alliance with ambitious prosecutor Park Kyung-sun and a slow-footed detective, Goo Dae-young, taking on corrupt officials, gangsters and a few crooked figures in robes of their own.
Kim Nam-gil plays the priest with cold fury and deadpan comedy at the same time, while Lee Honey and Kim Sung-kyun bring the chaos and the heart. Director Lee Myung-woo keeps the brutal fights and the broad satire in the same frame, and the show took home the Baeksang for Best Drama.
