Our Women

Our Women (Nos femmes, 2015) is a French drama with a streak of black comedy that you can watch online on iFILM. Max, Paul and Simon have been close for thirty-five years, taking one trip a year without their wives and meeting up to drink and play cards.

Each man has a successful career and a seemingly flawless life. All of that collapses in a single evening when Simon walks in and calmly announces that he has just strangled his wife Estelle after a furious argument. Then he asks the unthinkable: cover for him, give him an alibi. Max and Paul are left facing a choice that cuts to the bone of their friendship — lie to the police for their oldest friend, or hand him over.

Richard Berry directs, adapting Éric Assous's stage play, and takes one of the three roles himself, with Daniel Auteuil and Thierry Lhermitte completing a first-rate trio. It's a chamber piece with almost no action, riding entirely on dialogue and a moral trap. A good pick for fans of talky French dramas and sharp acting duels. Stream Our Women (2015) online on iFILM.
