Synopsis
Raising Dion (2019), Season 1 is the Netflix sci-fi drama you can watch online on iFILM — nine episodes about a widowed mother, Nicole, raising seven-year-old Dion alone when strange things start happening around him.
The boy moves objects with a look, blinks across rooms, vanishes. Nicole is overwhelmed: how do you parent a child whose abilities make no sense, and keep him hidden from everyone who might want him? Pat, her late husband's friend, steps in to help, while Nicole digs into how Mark really died — a trail that leads to a research lab called BIONA and to a crackling figure the family comes to call the Crooked Man. The season is laid out like comic issues, each one a beat in both the mystery and Nicole's growth as a mom. By the finale, the storm is at the door, literally.
The show grew out of Dennis Liu's short film and comic, with Michael B. Jordan producing and playing Mark. At heart it's less a powers-and-punches spectacle than a single-parent drama wrapped around an origin story. A solid family-night pick — a little scary, but warm.
