Synopsis
Inventing Anna (2022), Season 1 is a drama based on a true story you can watch online on iFILM — nine episodes about Anna Delvey, who talked New York's elite into believing she was a German heiress worth tens of millions.
The season runs on two tracks. Reporter Vivian Kent, heavily pregnant and pushing back against her editor, pieces together who Anna really was, working through everyone who fell under her spell: an ex-boyfriend, society fixer Nora, a hotel concierge, a Manhattan lawyer who helped chase millions for an art foundation that never existed. Alongside that, we watch Anna herself — a yacht off Ibiza, Paris Fashion Week, a disastrous retreat in Marrakech, and finally a courtroom where her outfit seems to worry her more than the verdict.
Shonda Rhimes made the series for Netflix from Jessica Pressler's magazine piece, and it refuses to hand down a tidy ruling: brilliant grifter, or a product of a city that wanted to believe her.
