Synopsis
13 Days, 13 Nights (13 Jours, 13 Nuits, 2025) is a French-Belgian war thriller drawn from the August 2021 fall of Kabul — watch it online on iFILM. Director Martin Bourboulon, who helmed the recent Three Musketeers films, reconstructs the fortnight when the Taliban took the Afghan capital and roughly five hundred people found themselves sheltering inside the French embassy with one viable exit left: the airport. Roschdy Zem plays Commander Mohamed Bida, the officer whose unit is the last thing standing between those people and the street.
US forces are already pulling out. Orders from Paris come through in fragments. The route to the airport is a few kilometres through crowds in free fall, and every checkpoint is a variable no one can model. Lina Khoudri and Sidse Babett Knudsen anchor the supporting ensemble as people who keep making calls with no time and no safety net.
Bourboulon structures the film like a tactical countdown — the pressure is cumulative and almost procedural, which turns out to be more effective than cutting for conventional thriller tension. It doesn't take editorial positions on the withdrawal itself; it focuses on what the people in that building had to do, hour by hour, to get out. One of the more sobering war films of 2025.
