Seobok

Seobok (서복, 2021) is a South Korean sci-fi thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Former intelligence agent Ki-heon is pulled back for one last job: escort the world's first human clone — a young man named Seobok — to a safe location. Seobok carries a biological secret that makes him the most wanted person on the planet.

Gong Yoo (Train to Busan) plays Ki-heon, a terminally ill operative with nothing left to lose. Park Bo-gum is Seobok — raised entirely in a lab, encountering the outside world for the first time while people with very different agendas close in around him. Director Lee Yong-ju keeps the action tight while the two leads build something quieter between the set pieces: a conversation about what mortality actually means.

The film works best as a character study wearing an action movie's coat. Gong Yoo and Park Bo-gum together are worth the 114 minutes. Stream Seobok online on iFILM.
