Season 1
Synopsis
Juni Taisen: Zodiac War (2017), Season 1 — a Japanese action anime you can watch online on iFILM, twelve episodes built around a once-a-decade death tournament. Every twelve years the world's deadliest mercenaries fight under the signs of the Chinese zodiac.
This is where it all begins. Twelve fighters swallow a poison gem and wake in an abandoned city; survive twelve hours by tearing the crystals out of the other eleven, or die when the venom spreads. The season hands almost every episode to a single warrior. The Dog who secretes poisons. The Chicken who sees through birds' eyes. The Tatsumi brothers, Snake and Dragon. The Ox, who kills like clockwork. Each gets a brief backstory, then a final fight — some last seconds, some rewrite the whole board.
Animated by Graphinica from a novel by Nisio Isin, the writer behind the Monogatari series, the show cares less about spectacle than about how matter-of-factly each contestant meets the end. If you like tournament arcs where character outweighs raw power, this one lands. Stream Juni Taisen Season 1 online on iFILM.
