Synopsis
Relative Strangers (2006) is an American comedy directed by Greg Glienna — stream it online on iFILM. The cast brings together Danny DeVito, Kathy Bates, Ron Livingston, Neve Campbell, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski, and Edward Herrmann.
Richard is a composed, successful therapist with an equally composed fiancée and a life he's carefully arranged. A stray piece of paperwork changes all of that: he was adopted. His biological parents turn up and they are, by every available measure, his opposite. Kathy Bates and Danny DeVito play them with zero regard for personal space or volume control. Richard's orderly existence doesn't survive first contact.
The film's tagline — "You can't pick your parents" — tells you exactly what you're getting: a gap comedy that runs on the distance between Richard's controlled world and the one he was born into. DeVito and Bates commit fully, and that commitment carries the film further than the premise might otherwise manage. Watch Relative Strangers (2006) online on iFILM.
