Violeta Went to Heaven (Violeta se fue a los cielos, 2011) — watch online on iFILM — is a Chilean biographical drama directed by Andrés Wood. Francisca Gavilán plays Violeta Parra across several decades: a girl from the province of Chillán, a field researcher traveling by bus to record vanishing folk songs, and a visual artist whose tapestries were exhibited at the Louvre in 1964.

Violeta Parra (1917–1967) wrote "Gracias a la Vida," one of the most covered songs in the Spanish-speaking world, and spent years documenting Chilean folk music before it disappeared. Wood's film is not a linear biopic — it moves between memory, live performance, and reconstruction, refusing to reduce her to a national icon. The film took home the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize at Sundance 2012.
