Synopsis
"Red-Headed Woman" (1932) is a pre-Code Hollywood comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Director Jack Conway made it for MGM, and Jean Harlow turned a scheming secretary into one of cinema's most unapologetic gold-diggers.
Lil works at the Legendre company and wants her boss Bill. She breaks up his marriage, gets the wedding, enjoys the money for a while, then sets her sights on a wealthier prospect: older businessman Charles. Chester Morris plays Bill, Lewis Stone plays the magnate, and Charles Boyer turns up late. What makes it work is how little Lil regrets any of it.
Released months before the Hays Code took hold, this is the kind of film Hollywood stopped making by 1934. Watch "Red-Headed Woman" online on iFILM.
