Synopsis
Summer's Blood (2009) is a Canadian horror-thriller you can watch online, and it's worth a look for an early Ashley Greene lead. Director Lee Demarbre drops a teenage girl named Summer into the small town of Massey, where she's come to track down a father she's never met.
The welcome runs out fast. A roadside run-in with a local cop leaves Summer rattled, until a friendly young man named Tom steps in to help. He brings her back to his house and introduces his mother, and from there the hospitality curdles into a trap with no easy door out. Stephen McHattie and Barbara Niven round out the cast.
It plays the backwoods-horror rules of the late 2000s straight: one isolated house, a family hiding something, a victim who clocks the danger far too late. Fans of lean, contained scares will get what they came for. Stream Summer's Blood (2009) online on iFILM.
