Synopsis
The Investigation (Efterforskningen, 2020) Season 1 — a Danish crime drama you can watch online on iFILM, six episodes built around the 2017 Copenhagen case of a Swedish journalist who vanished after an interview aboard a homemade submarine.
Jens Møller, head of the city's homicide unit, takes the file. Here is what makes the show unusual: the camera never once follows the suspect. No flashbacks to the crime, no reconstruction, no killer's face. Just the work. Møller's team waits on forensics, argues motive with the chief prosecutor, and flies in Swedish cadaver dogs trained to scent bodies twenty metres down. The vessel is scuttled, there are no witnesses, and theories pile up faster than evidence. Six episodes of slow, methodical procedure against a hungry press and a clock that keeps running.
Creator Tobias Lindholm made a procedural turned inside out — the drama lives in the people chasing the truth, not in how the murder happened. Jens Møller gets assistance with the search. Swedish cadaver dogs that can locate bodies more than 20 metres below sea level are brought in. Although the dogs mark the areas quite accurately, the divers don't find anything.

The case is slowly coming together, but Jens Møller and his team still have no conclusive evidence. Chief Prosecutor Jakob Buch-Jepsen emphasises that they must determine the motive and cause of death in order to charge the accused.
