Season 1
Bring truth to the surface.
Synopsis
The Investigation (Efterforskningen, 2020) Season 1 — a Danish crime drama you can watch online on iFILM, six episodes built around the 2017 Copenhagen case of a Swedish journalist who vanished after an interview aboard a homemade submarine.
Jens Møller, head of the city's homicide unit, takes the file. Here is what makes the show unusual: the camera never once follows the suspect. No flashbacks to the crime, no reconstruction, no killer's face. Just the work. Møller's team waits on forensics, argues motive with the chief prosecutor, and flies in Swedish cadaver dogs trained to scent bodies twenty metres down. The vessel is scuttled, there are no witnesses, and theories pile up faster than evidence. Six episodes of slow, methodical procedure against a hungry press and a clock that keeps running.
Creator Tobias Lindholm made a procedural turned inside out — the drama lives in the people chasing the truth, not in how the murder happened. Restrained and heavy, this season is for viewers who prefer Nordic discipline to thriller adrenaline. Watch The Investigation Season 1, all episodes, online on iFILM.
