Synopsis

A thousand years ago the magic Dark Crystal cracked, and the balance of the world fell apart. Power passed to the Skeksis — hunched vulture-tyrants who slowly drain the life out of everything around them. The one hope is Jen, a Gelfling who believes he is the last of his kind. He has to find the missing shard and set it back before three suns align over the land. Along the way he meets Kira and learns he was never the only survivor.
Henson dreamed up this world with illustrator Brian Froud, and every creature, from the gentle Mystics to the scuttling Podlings, was built by hand.
