Synopsis

The season opens on a wedding night and turns dangerous almost immediately: the hero's life is threatened before the second episode ends. Nuño faces execution. A pirate named Richard Blake shows up in Madrid and upends the careful balances at court. The Crown prince falls gravely ill. Then plague descends on the city, and by the closing episode the streets look nothing like the Madrid of the first season. Season 3 piles the crises higher than the previous two runs and earns most of them.
