Synopsis
The Yellow Tie (Cravata galbenă, 2025) — watch online on iFILM. Directed by Serge Ioan Celebidachi — the conductor's own son — the 145-minute film follows one of the twentieth century's most intractable musicians from his Romanian childhood to his long twilight in Munich.
Born in Roman in the Moldavian region, trained in wartime Berlin, Celibidache stepped up to conduct the Berlin Philharmonic after 1945. He then lost the position to Herbert von Karajan in a power struggle that defined a generation of classical music. For the rest of his career he refused commercial recordings — convinced that music only exists in the moment of performance, not pressed onto vinyl.
