The show tracks his life from the 1960s onward: prison stretches, breakouts, heists, women, and a steady stream of lies until you can no longer tell fact from the legend Clark spun about himself. It all builds to the bank siege on Stockholm's Norrmalmstorg square, after which people kept puzzling over the hostages' strange loyalty to their captor — and a phrase everyone now knows entered the language. The story is told from Clark's own point of view, so take every word with a grain of salt.

Director Jonas Åkerlund, known for music videos for Metallica and Lady Gaga, shoots the six episodes in a jittery, music-driven, almost cartoonish style that mirrors Clark's own tall tales.
