Synopsis
Mussolini: Son of the Century (M. Il figlio del secolo, 2025), Season 1 is the eight-episode period drama you can watch online on iFILM. It follows Benito Mussolini, an ex-socialist turned agitator, as he builds fascism out of postwar Italy's wreckage.
The arc runs from the founding of the Fasci di Combattimento to a murder that nearly ends him. Early on the elections crush him and he looks finished. Then frightened landowners and industrialists come knocking, desperate for someone to break the strikes. From there it is Blackshirt violence, a rigged electoral law aimed at Don Sturzo's Catholics, defectors padding the party lists, and a landslide win. When the socialist Matteotti demands the vote be annulled, Mussolini decides to make an example of him.
Luca Marinelli plays the Duce as a showman who keeps turning to the camera, talking straight to us across a hundred years.
