Maelstorm (2020), Season 1 — watch online on iFILM, eight episodes of Russian crime noir. It opens in a city drainage collector, where investigators pull out the bodies of teenagers nobody ever reported missing.

From that first discovery the case pulls the detectives downward, into the part of the city that swallows people no one waits up for. The season runs on two tracks at once. One is the procedural work — evidence, suspects, dead ends. The other is what the hunt does to the hunters, each of whom is dragged toward his own buried fear. By the end the line between victim and predator has worn dangerously thin.
