Season 1
Synopsis
Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson (1980), Season 1 is the Soviet detective adaptation you can watch online on iFILM — two feature-length episodes that open the country's best-loved Holmes cycle.
The first part, "The Acquaintance," is just that: a retired army doctor takes a room with an odd flatmate who reads a stranger's whole history off a walking stick. Their first shared case is the speckled band — a scheming stepfather, stepdaughters dying one after another, and a locked-room riddle Holmes quietly takes apart. The second part, "Bloody Inscription," puts a dead American in an empty house on Brixton Road and the word "Revenge" smeared across the wall in blood. Scotland Yard is stuck, so the lodger from Baker Street steps in again.
Director Igor Maslennikov, with Vasily Livanov and Vitaly Solomin in the leads, set a tone later praised even in England as the finest Holmes ever filmed. This is where the cycle starts. Stream Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson Season 1 online on iFILM.
