Season 1
Based on the Real-Life Cesium-137 Accident.
Synopsis
Radioactive Emergency (Emergência Radioativa, 2026), Season 1 — watch online on iFILM. Five episodes built around the real Cesium-137 disaster that contaminated the Brazilian city of Goiânia in 1987.
Two scrap collectors crack open an abandoned lead capsule and unknowingly release radioactive powder into the city. Rumours of tainted water send residents into panic; some riot against the medical teams, others plead for compassion. Physicist Orenstein and his crew race to map the spread while the community fractures around them. One month in, a tragedy divides public sympathy further — and a series of bold calls may be the only way to end the nightmare.
Compact and unsentimental, the season is most effective as a portrait of institutional distrust under pressure. Stream Radioactive Emergency Season 1 on iFILM.
