Copycat Killer (Season 1)

Copycat Killer (模仿犯, 2023) is a Taiwanese crime thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Set in the mid-1990s, it follows a run of brutal murders by a killer who phones the TV station himself and sets the rules. Prosecutor Kuo Hsiao-chi takes the case.

This murderer doesn't hide. He stages everything — plants clues, taunts the police, and turns the grief of victims' families into prime-time spectacle. The closer Kuo gets, the more personal it turns, because the man starts striking at the people around him. Wu Kang-ren plays the prosecutor pushed to his limit, with Lin Hsin-ju among a deep ensemble of Taiwanese television actors. Ten episodes carry one tightening thread from the first body to the last reveal.

It's adapted from a novel by Japanese author Miyuki Miyabe, the same book filmed in Japan years earlier. Directors Chang Heng-ju and Chang Jung-chi keep the rainy, grim tone honest: a slow, careful thriller about how the media feeds on other people's pain.
