Synopsis
Midnight Sun (Midnattssol, 2016) is a French-Swedish crime series you can watch online on iFILM. French detective Kahina Zadi travels to Kiruna — a mining town above the Arctic Circle in Sweden — to investigate the killing of a French citizen. Her assigned partner is Anders, a Swedish prosecutor of Sami descent, and neither of them wanted this pairing.
Leïla Bekhti and Gustaf Hammarsten work the case as new killings surface, each as calculated and brutal as the last, with no obvious thread connecting the victims. Peter Stormare and Denis Lavant add considerable weight to the edges of the story. Directors Björn Stein and Mons Marlind run two parallel tracks: the investigation itself, and the personal histories both detectives have been quietly burying — until the case starts to excavate them.
