Red Finger

Red Finger (赤い指, 2011) is a Japanese detective TV film you can watch online on iFILM, starring Hiroshi Abe as Detective Kaga Kyoichiro. Running 124 minutes, it is set two years before the events of the television series Shinzanmono (2010), adding background to Kaga's career.

A seven-year-old girl is found dead in a park. The Maehara family knows exactly what happened — their teenage son was responsible — and the mother persuades the father to cover it up. The lie compounds fast. By the time Kaga arrives, the family has shifted the blame onto their elderly mother, a woman with dementia who cannot defend herself. Too many details don't add up.

There is no real mystery here — the audience knows from early on. What the film is actually about is how quickly a family destroys itself when fear overrides every other instinct.
