Synopsis

Klara and the Sun (2026) is a sci-fi drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Taika Waititi and adapted from Nobel laureate Kazuo Ishiguro's 2021 novel. Jenna Ortega plays Klara, an Artificial Friend — a humanoid companion robot — bought by a mother (Amy Adams) for her chronically ill teenage daughter Josie.

Klara was designed to observe. She watches, records, and cares with a precision that begins to feel uncomfortably close to real devotion. When Josie's condition darkens, Klara's loyalty pushes into territory that asks uncomfortable questions: what exactly is a person, and can that be replicated? Natasha Lyonne, Simon Baker, and Steve Buscemi complete the cast.

Ishiguro wrote the source novel with the same flat, exact prose he brought to Never Let Me Go — another quiet story about engineered lives trying to understand what makes humans worth loving.
