8 New Dates

8 New Dates (2014) is a Russian-Ukrainian romantic comedy directed by Marius Vaysberg, available to watch online on iFILM. After a particularly heated argument, Vera (Oksana Akinshina) and Nikita (Volodymyr Zelensky) each say out loud what a perfect partner would look like. Next morning, they wake up with exactly that.

Nikita gets a cheerful, cooking-minded blonde; Vera gets a businessman who buys her croissants without being asked. For a few hours, it is everything they wanted. Then the doubts start. Mikhail Galustyаn and Polina Maksimova round out the cast in this sharply observed comedy about the gap between the ideal and the real.
