Synopsis
Two Prosecutors (Zwei Staatsanwälte, 2025) is a historical thriller by director Sergei Loznitsa you can watch online on iFILM. The USSR, summer of 1937 — peak of the arrest machine. A newly appointed state prosecutor reads a prisoner's letter buried in a stack of files. The letter points at corruption inside the secret police.
Loznitsa — whose previous work includes State Funeral and Babi Yar — brings the same unsparing gaze here. Alexander Kuznetsov plays the prosecutor forced to choose between turning the page and following the thread. What the film examines isn't whether the system was evil — that's given — but how it trained ordinary officials to sustain it, and what it cost the ones who hesitated. Anatoly Bely and Alexander Filippenko round out the cast.
Co-produced across Germany, France, Lithuania, Latvia, the Netherlands and Romania, this is 118 minutes of slow-burn procedural dread in the tradition of European political cinema. Stream Two Prosecutors online on iFILM.
