Young symbologist Robert Langdon travels to Washington to give a lecture, and the night collapses into a nightmare: his mentor Peter Solomon has been taken, and a severed hand left at the scene serves as a grim invitation to play.

What follows is a race across the capital for the Masons' "lost word." Langdon and scientist Katherine Solomon crack one puzzle after another while dodging the CIA — embodied by the relentless Inoue Sato — and the real hunter, Mal'akh, who keeps pulling every string at once. The trail drags Robert and Katherine back into a shared past, and episode by episode it becomes clear the kidnapper isn't simply after revenge; he wants something far bigger. By the finale, Peter and Langdon must weigh what they're willing to sacrifice to save Katherine.

This is a prequel to the Langdon adventures fans know from The Da Vinci Code, only younger and built for episodic TV.
