Synopsis
The Secret Art of Human Flight (2024) is an American drama directed by H.P. Mendoza — watch it online on iFILM. Grant Rosenmeyer plays Ben, a widower who finds a mysterious self-help book on the dark web, written by an eccentric guru claiming he can teach people to literally fly.
Ben is barely functioning after losing his wife. The book gives him something to hold onto — and the guru himself, played by Paul Raci, shows up in his life: charismatic, a little unhinged, and impossible to dismiss. Maggie Grace plays the neighbor who keeps puncturing Ben's isolation, and Lucy DeVito rounds out a cast working in close, contained scenes. The film keeps you uncertain whether Ben is finding his way through grief or cracking apart.
Mendoza builds something deliberately hard to pin down — not horror, not quite comedy, not either. What it is: one of the stranger, more honest portraits of loss in recent American indie cinema. Stream The Secret Art of Human Flight (2024) on iFILM.
