Once upon a time in Yorkshire...
Synopsis
The Ripper (2020), Season 1 is a Netflix true-crime documentary you can watch online on iFILM — four episodes on the five years northern England spent in fear.
Between 1975 and 1980 thirteen women are killed and the investigation goes nowhere. The series walks the case episode by episode: early murders the press barely noticed, a hoax tape and letters that sent detectives chasing the wrong man, women marching for the right to walk home after dark. The fourth episode reaches the arrest and the reckoning over how badly the hunt was run.
Detectives, reporters and people close to the victims tell it, building a portrait of an era rather than just a manhunt. The season is sharpest on how contempt for the victims slowed everything down. Stream The Ripper Season 1 online on iFILM.
