Synopsis
Alyssa (2022) is a Russian coming-of-age drama you can watch online on iFILM. Fifteen-year-old Alyssa finally learns the secret her family kept for years: she is going blind, and soon.
With the dark closing in, school feels like a waste of whatever time she has left. So she decides to grow up all at once — easy money, a big bright city, every experience she can grab before her sight goes. Her mother, played by Anna Mikhalkova, copes by pretending nothing is wrong. Neither plan survives contact with reality.
Director Natalya Meshchaninova shoots adolescence up close and without comfort, letting the dialogue sound overheard rather than scripted. Elizaveta Ishchenko leads as Alyssa, with Taisiya Vilkova alongside. It's a drama about how the fear of losing everything pushes a kid into choices she can never take back.
