Parallel World (2023) is a Chinese fantasy-adventure series you can watch online on iFILM. Chang Dong carries a heavy guilt: two years ago he led his crew into the desert, and not one of them came back.

Ye Liuxi remembers nothing of her own past, yet she's holding fragments of those very events from two years prior. A melon seller and a shadow-puppet performer turned reluctant partners, the two head west toward the weathered Yumen Pass — one chasing the mystery of her origins, the other set on recovering the remains of the woman he loved. The deeper into the dunes they push, the stranger it gets: Imperial Guards, Taoist priests, the Scorpion-Eyed. Every trial hands them an answer and a fresh riddle in the same breath.

Adapted from a novel by Wei Yu and directed by Su Chaobin, it stars Bai Yu and Meng Ziyi. Part desert road movie, part occult mystery, part slow-tightening conspiracy that proves bigger than it first looked. A good fit for fans of Eastern fantasy built around a buried past.
