Ackley Bridge (2017) is a Channel 4 drama series you can watch online on iFILM. Two schools in a Yorkshire mill town are merged into a single academy — one traditionally white working-class, the other largely British-Pakistani — and headteacher Mandy Carter, played by Jo Joyner, has to hold it all together.

Directors Jon East, Robert Quinn, and Penny Woolcock give it a raw, observational tone rather than a tidy after-school message. The student storylines involving Amy-Leigh Hickman, Maariah Hussain, and Poppy Lee Friar drive most of the emotional weight, while Arsher Ali and Paul Nicholls supply the adult tension.
