State Border (Seasons 1–8)

State Border (Gosudarstvennaya Granitsa, 1980) is a Soviet historical drama series you can watch online on iFILM. Produced at Belarusfilm by a directing trio — Boris Stepanov, Gennady Ivanov and Vyacheslav Nikiforov — it covers seven decades of Soviet history, from the revolution of 1917 through the late 1980s.

Each installment of the multi-part series is set in a different era: the post-revolutionary years, the interwar decades, the Second World War and the postwar period. The action spans the full length of the Soviet border — from Far Eastern outposts to the western frontier. Casts change from part to part; the subject stays constant: who patrols the line, who tries to cross it, and what both sides are prepared to do.
