Synopsis

It opens with Rodney smitten by a girl from the newsagent's, right up until he learns how well Del once knew her mother. Then the mood softens for a beat: after Grandad's funeral, old seafarer Uncle Albert moves in, foghorn naval yarns and all. Ordinary chaos resumes — Del agrees to mind someone's puppy for sixty quid a week, manages a hopeless rock band that hasn't even got a drum kit, and sets Rodney up on a date he'll wish he'd skipped.
