Synopsis
Anthony Jeselnik: Thoughts and Prayers (2015) is an hour-long Netflix stand-up special you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by Adam Dubin, it puts one man and a microphone center stage and nothing else.
Jeselnik trades in pitch-black comedy where no topic is off limits. He takes national tragedies, taboos and everyday hypocrisy, then calmly turns them inside out. His signature is the cold delivery: a flat setup, a long pause, then a punchline that makes the room gasp and laugh at the same time.
Near the end he drops the persona and walks the audience through how and why his provocative style actually works, and that breakdown is what lifts the set above a standard concert film. The humor is not for everyone, so if offensive jokes get under your skin, skip it. Fans of mean, precision-engineered stand-up will get exactly what they came for.
