Synopsis
The Flamingo Kid (1984) is Garry Marshall's summer coming-of-age comedy, free to watch online on iFILM. Brooklyn teen Jeffrey Willis takes a season job at a glitzy beach club and falls hard for a life that isn't his.
Behind the cabanas and the gin-rummy tables, Jeffrey gets pulled into the orbit of smooth-talking dealer Phil Brody (Hector Elizondo) and a club beauty named Carla. Easy money starts to look smarter than his plumber father's plain honesty (Richard Crenna). Matt Dillon plays a kid one bad bet away from trading his family for the shine.
Marshall keeps it warm and clear-eyed, letting a tan-and-bikini summer carry a real question about where a boy actually belongs. Watch the bit players closely — a baby-faced Marisa Tomei, John Turturro and Fisher Stevens all turn up in small roles. Stream The Flamingo Kid (1984) online on iFILM.
