Synopsis
The Boys Season 1 — eight episodes, 2019 — is a superhero action series you can watch online on iFILM, and it is nothing like the genre it is skewering.
In this world, the Seven are a corporate brand managed by Vought International, sold to the public as protectors. When A-Train runs through Hughie Campbell's girlfriend at full speed and keeps going, Hughie ends up recruited by Billy Butcher — a man carrying a personal grievance against Supes that goes back years. The two begin assembling a crew with no powers, just grit and a willingness to cheat. On the other side, Starlight joins the Seven and immediately finds the gap between the billboard and the reality. Homelander, the team's smiling face, turns out to be the most dangerous thing in the building.
Eric Kripke adapted Garth Ennis's comic for Amazon Prime. Season 1 is a focused origin story: the team forms, the machine behind Vought gets exposed one piece at a time, and by the finale the stakes are clear enough to make every season after it feel earned.
