Suburban Detroit, 1980. Straight-A student Lindsay Weir quits the mathletes and starts drifting with a pack of school burnouts, mostly because she's falling for the charming, self-absorbed Daniel. Meanwhile her younger brother Sam and his nerdy friends try to survive the cafeteria, gym class and a hopeless crush.
