Synopsis

Chrissy is born in episode two, arriving on Ben's twelfth birthday and quietly rearranging the whole household — a nanny joins, Ben wonders aloud where he now fits, and the daily rhythm recalibrates around a baby. Mike draws his own line: he declares himself an independent adult, moves into the storage space above the garage, and enrolls in college. A night shift at a convenience store puts him in front of a boss whose racial favoritism is hard to ignore, making it one of the season's most unlikely turns. Carol spends the year fighting her parents' agenda for her college choice, and one sneaked-out night with an older boyfriend costs her more than she planned. Away from the kids, Jason processes the news that his widowed mother has come home from a cruise with a fiancé.
